ASK KNOX COUNTY SHERIFF, COMMISSION TO USE 287(g) ILLEGAL-ALIEN DETECTION PROGRAM
The Knox County Commission held a meeting on July 23rd, 2012 to discuss whether Sheriff J.J. Jones should participate in the federal 287(g) immigration program. The program allows officers to check the immigration status of suspected illegal aliens and process those confirmed for deportation. The federal government has approved the Sheriff’s application to participate but local illegal-alien advocates are trying to convince him and the Commission to drop the matter.

At the meeting, one illegal-alien advocate told the Commission, "Not only will it force our county jail to waste time and resources processing (illegal) immigrants with no criminal record, or with only minor infractions, (it) may encourage police officers who are not deputized as immigration agents to use the power of arrest to check immigration status." But illegal aliens should fear exposure for being in the country illegally, especially when they commit crimes. The risk of detection is what causes illegal aliens to leave a jurisdiction.

Fortunately, Commissioner Amy Broyles countered by saying the program will save money when criminals are deported instead of remaining in Knox County jails. The sheriff also said the part of the 287(g) program they're considering would not put officers on the street to search for illegal aliens. Therefore, this should not be of concern to illegal-alien advocates unless they are worried about deporting criminals.

Please ask Sheriff Jones and the Commissioners to follow through with full participation in the 287(g) program. We urge you to:

Post a comment on Sheriff Jones’ web site http://www.knoxsheriff.org/contact/ ( www DOT knoxsheriff DOT org/contact/ )

Talking Points

“I am a Knox County voter who wants Sheriff Jones to follow through with full participation in the 287(g) program. The program will help make the County a safer place to live and save taxpayer dollars.

Illegal-alien advocates oppose 287(g) because they oppose all immigration enforcement. Don’t listen to them. We need to do our part to remove criminal aliens from Knox County.”

"Do not fund EPA Smart Growth for 2012."
If they only hear from the enviro-fascists and globalists they won't be as inclined not to fund the program. To cut out the funding in 2012 is VITAL to our fight against Agenda 21. Even more effective than fighting at the local level we must go after the head of this snake, and that head is the funding. So please call and send email to your Congressman and call often.
